![]() Use OneDrive when syncing OneNote notebooks. Use the Outline notebook format syncs and sync with Dropbox or Box. Outline ($6.99) offers a great note taking tool that syncs between computer and iPad and opens and saves OneNote notebooks. So some Apple purists would rather not use it, but they share notebooks with Office users. Microsoft makes OneNote for Mac, but it doesn’t look like other native Mac apps for Yosemite. Delete apps and clean up files that stay behind when a person drags an app from Applications to the trash. Here are a few ways it improves file management compared to OS X Finder: FilePaneįorklift does file management better than Finder. It’s potentially safer and more anonymous. People will rest assured they don’t need to worry about hackers going after Dropbox or one of the other cloud services. Why use BitTorrent Sync instead of Dropbox? There’s no central server that stores the files. The app makes sharing large files, like a big video file edited by a group of people or a really large zip file of photos, easy. Criminals can use it, but honest people shouldn’t fear BitTorrent. BitTorrent Sync will make it easy to get the power of BitTorrent on your side. Most people think that people only use BitTorrent (Free) to share pirated movies or music, but it’s actually a great tool for transferring any content. For example, drag a PNG file to the open app window and it will convert it to JPG or some other format. Use the drop down box at the bottom of the window to choose the resulting file format. It’s a drag-and-drop utility that converts audio, video and image files from one format to another. ![]() I can at least say that during the 2 minutes or so I used it for file operations, it did not crash.Adapter (Free) impressed us as one of the best file conversion utilities. I tried to hang on long enough with 0.85 to see if the frequency of crashes has diminished, but because of the sluggishness, I find version 0.85 unusable. In 0.84 I had a crash once about every minute or 2 when doing file operations like copy. I was looking forward to this version because of the frequent crashes (and numerous other bugs in basic functionality) in 0.84 and previous versions. Version 0.85 would probably be usable, though a little irritating, if the program responded to mouse wheel clicks the same way it responds to up/down arrow presses. When I use the up/down arrow buttons to scroll through files, I don't have the same problem with dropped clicks, but images still load noticeably slower than in 0.84. It seems to me there are possibly two separate issues, one having to do with how fast images are loaded, and the other having to do with responsiveness to the mouse wheel. (The behavior is no better when the mouse wheel is in free spinning mode.) In 0.84 I could scroll the mouse wheel rapidly without any dropped clicks. This are more dropped clicks the faster I scroll. Also, sometimes (about every 3 or 4 mouse wheel clicks) there is a "dropped click," where a mouse wheel turn has no effect. There is a very noticeable delay in loading some images. (Of course, I don't mean a mouse wheel button press.) When I say "mouse wheel click" I mean a single click in click-to-click mode. To be clear, the Logitech 700S has two mouse wheel modes, free spinning and click-to-click. ![]() This is most noticeable when I am scrolling through the files by turning the scroll wheel one click at a time (I'm using a Logitech G700S mouse). When I select a new file from the file pane, the image is loaded much more slowly than in version 0.84. I'm using a MacBook Pro Retina, 15 inch, Mid 2015. I also have a problem with sluggish browsing on Mac. ![]()
